Arry DeZeeuw was voted the best ever Wigan Athletic centre half by Vital Wigan pollsters.

Arry was like a rock during his two spells with the club and former manager Paul Jewell described the big Dutchman as the best professional he had ever worked with

DeZeeuw was extremely popular during his time at the JJB being voted ‘Player of the Season` twice and when he left the club to join Portsmouth at the end of the 2002 season the Latics faithful held an orange day to try and persuade him to stay

He left then but returned in 2005 when the Latics won promotion to the Premier League and during the first few months he formed a formidable partnership with ex-Liverpool player Stefan Henchoz that saw Latics gain Premier League safety finishing the season in 10th spot in the table and reach the Carling Cup Final.

DeZeeuw captained the team on both occasions he was at the Latics proving he was a leader as well as an awesome player, for the record Arry DeZeeuw got 61% of the vote, Paul Scharner came in 2nd place with 31%

Nice one Arry
