Kavanagh Call-Up

Wigan Athletic midfielder Graham Kavanagh has been called up to the Ireland squad to play Sweden on the 22nd of February, 3 days after the Carling Cup final against Manchester United.

David Connolly has missed out this time having not recovered from a hamstring strain.

The squad in full

Goalkeepers: Shay Given (Newcastle United), Paddy Kenny (Sheffield United), Wayne Henderson (Brighton & Hove Albion).

Defenders: Gary Breen (Sunderland), Ian Harte (Levante), Steve Finnan (Liverpool), Andy O'Brien (Portsmouth), Richard Dunne (Manchester City), John O'Shea (Manchester United), Stephen Kelly (Tottenham Hotspur).

Midfielders: Liam Miller (Leeds United), Kevin Kilbane (Everton), Steven Reid (Blackburn Rovers), Damien Duff (Chelsea), Graham Kavanagh (Wigan Athletic), Joey O'Brien (Bolton Wanderers), Stephen Ireland (Manchester City), Jonathan Douglas (Leeds United).

Wigan 1-2 Bradford Match Report

Latics dropped to a deserved 1-2 defeat at the hands of Bradford, our first loss at home in the league since March. It was an off-day, defence looked shaky from the off and once Nick Powell went off injured, we never really threatened to score. We are back at the DW on Tuesday against Doncaster Rovers, an opportunity to get back on track.
