HT Man City 0 - 0 Wigan

Half time report

City 0 - 0 Wigan

A game of few chances which is being mostly played in the midfield is the way this match is panning out

Both teams have had 2 good chances and outside of that nothing has eventuated around goal

Citys best chance came from a header by Vassell from a cross by Elano which was brilliantly saved by Kirkland who took 2 grabs to hold onto it down to his low left

Citys 2nd chance came from another good ball from Elano to a Benjani who was offside but wasn't called, which left him only Kirkland to beat, Kirkland again did really well to put his body on the line and dive at the feet and ball of Benjani. Kirkland remained down for a minute or so whilst being checked out but was alright to continue

Wigans best chances came from a great break by Valencia down the flank, to then beat 2 in the box and put a nice pass onto a steaming Palacious, however instead of shooting Palacious tried to control it and well at that speed his 1st touch went straight to the keeper, had he wound up things might have been different

Wigans 2nd chance came in injury time from a free kick taken by Koumas. The free kick curled into the box and Heskey had an open header which beat the keeper but went wide

Aside from that Brown is the only player booked, whilst the skill level has been good in the middle of the park by City, Wigans hasn't been and appear moving forward only have options in Valencia down the flanks

King has yet again been ineffective and has hardly touched the ball, he doesn't work with Heskey and should be replaced by Sibs after about 15mins into the 2nd half

Heskey has looked sharp today, his foot work and speed looks good and even received a cheer from the crowd late in the 1st half after bouncing the ball on his head like a seal does in a show

Stats for the 1st half

Shots on goal 2 a piece
Shots off target City leads 4-1
Fouls given City lead 6-2
Corners City lead 2-0
Brown has the only yellow
