Koumas makes plea to ref

Wigan Athletic midfield player Jason Koumas pleaded with referee Steve Tanner to change his decision about the red card he handed out to the Welshman in Sundays win over Bolton at the JJB

Koumas was dismissed after five minutes for a tackle on Bolton skipper Tim Cahill

"They said that I went in with two feet, but I obviously didn`t. It was one foot. It was absolutely nothing. I don`t know why I`ve got the red card.

"If the refs saying I`ve gone in with two feet, I hope he looks at it and he sees it`s one so he can overturn it."

"It was the first tackle of the game.

"I really hope I`m not looking at a three-game ban. I can`t get three games for that, the first tackle of the game.

"If it was high then I`d hold my hands up, but I`m on the deck."

If Steve Tanner doesn`t change his mind then Koumas is looking at a three match suspension just after he has forced his way back into the Latics starting eleven

Lets hope that common sense prevails and the ref admits that the challenge was worthy of no more than a booking
