What the bosses said Latics Pompey

The game between Wigan Athletic and Portsmouth at the Fratton Park has got a lot of people talking, Latics misses, the five man attack, sharp shooter Defoe and David James' performance, but the two opinions that cut the most are the managers, Steve Bruce and Harry Redknapp, lets see what they have to say:

Latics boss Steve Bruce:

'Defoe had half a chance in the first half and one at the death, and takes them both,'

'In theory it was a good time to play Portsmouth, but the deal that brought Defoe here was a masterstroke. I've always said you're only as good as your strikers.'

'What has upset me more than anything is people returning on Friday from stupid Mickey Mouse testimonial friendlies,'

'We created five or six chances and deserved something out of the game but we made nothing of them.

'We've got four games out of six left at home, though, and I think a couple of wins will see us all right.

'I think 35 points might keep a team up this season.'

Pompey boss Harry Redknapp:

'Manchester United wouldn't be at the top of the league without Ronaldo's goals. I knew what I was getting with Jermain. I watched him when he was 15 and even then he scored every week.'

'Without a top, top keeper you are nothing and he's the best one around at the moment.

'For me he's the [Cristiano] Ronaldo of goalkeepers, someone who does that little bit special.

'When I knew there was a chance of signing him I jumped at it.'

So the bosses reckon a good keeper and a goal scorer and you'll be fine.
