What a fantastic day for Wigan Athletic, a 2-0 home win against Birmingham and Bolton getting hammered at Villa, now that makes for a good Saturday

The team played really well today and in all honesty the 2-0 score line flattered Birmingham a little with at least 4 more clear chances missed, Latics could have run up a big score

There were impressive performances from a few of the lads today, Ryan Taylor was solid on the left and scored two goals, the first a well taken volley following a great run and cross by Antonio Valencia who caused Birmingham trouble all afternoon.

Mario Melchiot produced another classy display at right back against his former club and another ex Brum player Emile Heskey had a good game leading the line and nearly scored early in the second half

Wilson Palacios was a dynamo in the middle and he showed Alex McLeish that he should have signed the Honduran when he had the chance and both Emerson Boyce and Paul Scharner were solid at the back

Some good displays today...Valencia, Palacios, Heskey but it has to be Taylor for his two goals and solid display
