Valencia Latics man of the match

The voters on the last poll on Vital Wigan chose Antonio Valencia has their Man of the Match in last Saturdays game against Birmingham City at the JJB

He was awesome

Indeed Valencia had a very good game, in fact he was awesome and gave Birminghams left back David Murphy a torrid time all afternoon with a performance packed with pace, vision and class.

The young Ecuador international set up the first goal for Ryan Taylor, taking the ball to the goal line and looking across and pulling back a great pass to pick the in coming Taylor out

Valencia also linked well with his full back Mario Melchiot and midfield partner Wilson Palacios to create problems all game for the hapless Birmingham back line, a great game Antonio well done

What the poll asked - Man of the match Vs Birmingham

How you voted - Antonio Valencia 62%, Ryan Taylor 16%, Wilson Palacios 16%

Current Poll - Whilst we are talking about the Birmingham game there was an article on Paul Scharner in Saturdays match programme and how he was about to set the new appearance record for Premier games in Latics colours, interesting.

This got me thinking about players who have left the club recently (last 3 years) and wondered if we would welcome any of them back, Jimmy Bullard for example if Fulham, as seem likely, go down, or Jason Roberts, cant get regular games at Blackburn

So I have made a list of players, more than likely missed some off, let me know if that`s the case, and I thought it could be interesting to see - 'Who we`d welcome back to the club`

The poll can be accessed on the right side of this page
