Wigan - Heskey 'chuffed` for Taylor

Wigan Athletic striker Emile Heskey has revealed that he is chuffed to bits for team mate Ryan Taylor following his two goal performance that gave the Latics a comfortable win over rivals Birmingham City on Saturday

The big man said:

'We got the lead and then we were able to push on. This is a very important victory. We never allowed Birmingham to play their passing game.

'I am made up for Ryan because he's a smashing player and he showed his character after missing a penalty last week.

'He finished the first one brilliantly and then got in ahead of me for the second. I would have liked it but he poked the ball home. We could have had more goals but we can't complain after achieving what we set out to do. We can now look forward to going to Chelsea next week.'

With Koumas and Brown back from suspension and now pushing for starting places in the midfield, competition will hopefully help to keep the focus of the players as the season starts to wind down with the Latics all but mathematically safe for another year
