Latics Speyk to Chelsea

Latics Speyk to Chelsea

In the build up to Monday nights big game at Stamford Bridge between Wigan Athletic and Chelsea, Vital Wigan have managed to grab a few words with Vital Chelsea editor merlin.

We spoke about the game, Chelsea, Latics and pubs! Lets see what merlin had to say:

How long have you been a Chelsea supporter merlin?

Since the early eighties when a local lad, Kerry Dixon, joined Chelsea. I`ve been through the bad times as well as the recent good times.

Wouldn`t trade a moment of it though - even when we were bad they were, in a strange way magical times, they helped to shape my future!

Are you pleased with your season?

Ask me this one in a few weeks time!

If we can win either the Premier League or the Champions League, then yes! If we don`t then losing to Spurs and Barnsley, in the domestic cups, would make it a dreadful season!

How's life under Avram and will he still be in charge next season?

After life under Jose Mourinho, let`s just say it is different. Avram hasn`t got the charisma Jose had, he hasn`t got the ability to manoeuvre the media but he`s still doing a good job.

Whether he`ll be in charge next season is the $64,000 question. Not many tears would be shed if he were to go but does he deserve to? His record since taking over surpasses anything Jose did!

Can you catch Man U?

My heart says yes, my head says no! Next question!

English Champions or European Champions?

If I could choose one, then it would have to be the Champions League. It would confirm our status as a 'big` club and cement our place in history.

After witnessing the bad days in the old Second Division it would be the icing on the cake, keep your fingers crossed for us please!

The Latics are rumoured to be signing Scott Sinclair, whats he like?

Sorry, but you`ve no chance of signing Scott.

At 18 he`s a superb talent and he`s currently performing great at Crystal Palace (on loan).

I doubt whether he`ll be sold, if he is there`ll be uproar on Vital Chelsea!

Do you think the Latics will avoid relegation this season?

Almost definitely!

I reckon the three to go down will be Derby (poorest Premier League team ever), Bolton and Birmingham!

I have this strange feeling Fulham will pull off a great escape!

If you had to pick one of the current Latics players to be in your squad who would it be and why?

Emile Heskey - Still, on his day one of the best leaders of a forward line around. If only he wasn`t so injury prone!

Is there any good cheap boozers near to the ground that you`d recommend?

Don`t know about cheap - nothing is cheap in West London!

Feel free to use any of the local boozers, you`ll not be harmed, times have changed.

That is, unless you start larging it!

Prediction for Latics Vs Chelsea?

3-1 to Chelsea! sorry mate!

Thanks for that merlin...3-1 indeed!

Lets hope for a good game and the Latics securing at least a point

Good interview and a nice fellow to boot is merlin....agree with him on the Fulham, I too have a sneaky feeling that are going to do a great escape though at the expense of Reading

Great stuff! Agree with Merlin. If I have to choose a Wigan player, then I'll certainly pick Valencia. Good and Skillful player.

Latics v Nottingham Forest - Big Game Preview

You can dress it up as you like, but for the Latics this is a game that they just have to win, we start a run of fixtures that would surely have been earmarked as ones to gain maximum points from and get us up the Championship table.

Forest arrive at the DW Stadium just six points ahead of us in the standings, they have injury problems, particularly in defence, they are on a poor run of form having lost their last three games, conceding 10 goals along the way, this is a time when we simpl
