Kirkland Earns Man of the Match

Wigan Athletic goalkeeper won the Vital Wigan Man of the Match award in our last poll for his superb display on Monday night against Chelsea.

With a massive amount of the votes Kirkie won comfortably and deservedly so, his display of goalkeeping was world class and he acted as an inspiration to the rest of the team as they battled for a well earned 1-1 draw and a precious point

Two saves spring to mind, one in each half, the first saw Chris launch himself backwards and claw Anelkas goal bound effort away, how he got there I don`t know and the strength he showed to flick the ball to safety was amazing.

The second save came in the second half just before Chelsea took the lead, Chris made a fantastic point blank save, spreading himself and blocked what was a goal bound effort.

Fantastic Chris, well done 'Englands number 1`

What the poll asked - Man of the Match in the Chelsea game

How you voted - Chris Kirkland 68%, Wilson Palacios 20%, Paul Scharner 7%

Current Poll - This Saturday its our turn to entertain a team from the capitol as Tottenham Hotspur make the well anticipated visit to the JJB.

The Spurs always provide entertaining opposition and on their last two trips to Wigan classic games have unfolded with last seasons 3-3 draw still one of the best games seen at the JJB

Latics need a win to make 100% certain survival is achieved though I think we can safely say it already is, so the promise of another entertaining game awaits but what will the outcome be, take part in the poll and see if we can forecast - 'Who will win on Saturday?'.

The poll can be accessed on the right side of this page
