There were some excellent performances in the game and several players won plaudits from the pundits:

Chris Kirkland was awesome and 5 live reckon he is Englands number 1 at the moment

Titus Bramble on his recall to the starting line up after a couple of months out didn`t put a foot wrong all afternoon

Michael Brown once again covered every blade of grass and gave an outstanding display

Paul Scharner was as solid as ever, especially when he went through the back of Ashley Young!

Antonio Valencia scored two goals, his second an absolute gem, racing paced three defenders and blasting the ball in at the near post with the outside of his right boot
