Wigan Athletic star Antonio Valencia was the top-scoring player in this week`s Actim Index, the official player ratings system of the Barclays Premier League.

The Ecuador winger scored his season`s-best 56 points in the 2-0 win at Aston Villa on Saturday, edging Manchester United`s Cristiano Ronaldo to the week`s best return by four points.

It saw Valencia climb 36 places into 94th overall, his 312-point haul this term just a point and three places behind team-mate Paul Scharner.

Chris Kirkland remains the club`s top-ranked player in 62nd overall, his 364 points making him the 10th-ranked goalkeeper in the Premier League.

The Actim Index is calculated using a unique mathematical formula that rates each player`s contribution be it goals, shots, passes, dribbles, tackles, crosses, saves, clearances, blocks, interceptions, assists, clean sheets, time on the pitch or number of points gained by the team with marks deducted for red and yellow cards.
