Kirkland Happy at Latics

Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Chris Kirkland was named the Latics Players Player of the Season on Tuesday night and he also received a glowing tribute from the chairman of the club Dave Whelan

Whelan isn`t known for understatements and his claim in front of a packed audience that Chris Kirkland isn`t only the best keeper in England but the best in Europe was met with rapturous applause.

The big keeper was obviously moved by Whelans claims and responded by saying:

"I`ve got tingles now just thinking about what he said"

"Hopefully I can be here for many more years."

"The chairman`s been great with me for bringing me to the club and I include Paul Jewell in that as he took a chance on me when no-one else would."

"I want to repay Wigan by hopefully staying fit and having a good run over the next few years."

Nice one big lad, lets hope that Kirkie can stay fit because he`s made one hell of a difference since the turn of the year and a fit Kirkland playing on top of his form can only be good for Latics and England
