Bruce makes pre-season plans for Latics

Wigan Athletic face a tough pre-season as manager Steve Bruce plans to whip the players into shape before the first game of the new Premier League on August 16th

The Latics will play games in Austria, Holland and Yorkshire to get their fitness and preparations spot on

In the six weeks of pre-season training there are seven friendlies lined-up with the players reporting back to Christopher Park in the second week of July before heading to a training camp in Austria on July 15.

Whilst in Austria the Latics play three friendlies against local sides.

Barnsley provide 'home soil` opposition on Tuesday, July 29th with the Latics travelling to Oakwell to take on the Championship side and FA Cup semi-finalists

The 'War of the Roses` will continue later that week with Latics set to play Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough on Saturday August 2nd

Next up will be a trip 'North of the Border` with Latics travelling to Edinburgh on August 5th where they'll face Hibernian at Easter Road

The last pre-season game will see Latics flying to Holland to tackle FC Utrecht on Sunday August 11 in readiness for the big start.
