Marcus Bent returns from the Latics to the Addicks

Wigan Athletic have failed to reach agreement over personal terms with last seasons leading goal scorer Marcus Bent so he has returned to his permanent club Charlton Athletic

Latics had agreed a £1 million transfer fee when they took the former Everton and Blackburn striker on loan from Championship club Charlton at the start of last season

Although Bent finished leading goal scorer he only scored seven and three of those came in the same game, with the Latics looking to add some fire power up front Bent must have been nothing more than a squad player and his salary would have reflected this.

With class strikers such as Suazo and Cisse being touted as possible targets lets put Bent behind us.

This is good, although Benty did us proud and put the effort in he looked a Championship striker at best (apart from the Blackburn game)

I agree with worbo. He did well for us and did us very proud. But its hard for me to say this but he did look like a championship striker. He did wear hes heart on he's sleeve and he tried realy hard but it just didn't work out for him, UNLUCKY BENTY ALL THE BEST I think we need to look for a quality striker and spend money around 8 million But spend it wisly on a player that you know will score sum goals

I think if you had agreed £1 million for his services and he finished your top scorer last season. I would have thought you would want to fight hard to keep him.

You would of thought but after Christmas he didn't get back on he's feet properly. Its a shame but i have faith in bruce. He wants a striker that can play off Hesky
