Villa's O`Neil Interested in Wigan's Heskey?

Villa's O`Neil Interested in Wigan's Heskey?

According to a report (yes I know its Tribal) Aston Villa boss Martin O`Neil is looking to take Wigan Athletic talisman Emile Heskey back to the Midlands

O`Neil gave Heskey his debut when they were both at Leicester City and O`Neil sold the gifted player to Liverpool where he flourished into a world class striker.

Last season the big man made an amazing start and earned himself an England call up and he was sensational in the two internationals that he played in.

Unfortunately he broke a metatarsal playing for the Latics against Fulham last September and suffered from niggling injuries for the rest of the season never allowing him to recapture his early season form.

Heskey is too important to the Latics to be allowed to go to Villa, indeed they could be seen as one of our main rivals as we aim to challenge for that UEFA Cup spot next season so why would we sell to them anyway.

A fully fit Heskey with a good preseason under his belt is just what we need to lead the line at the JJB and help bed in our new Egyptian superstar Amr Zaki.

Hesks, you`re going nowhere

Cant let Heskey leave, cant see this one happening anyway, dont think he'd go to Villa to sit on the bench like Harewood did all last season

Nah, it is on tribal with no substance or quotes. Good striker when fit but how often is he fit? Got an awful record at all clubs as far as I can see?

i didn't really get to see him last season but i heard he had a great season, but i still wouldn't want him at villa. its good to see that you have decent expectations for next season re: competing with us for a european spot but, i don't think you have a chance, in fact i think we will struggle unless we make a fair few decent signings and by that i definatly don't mean heskey. There is just too much money being splashed around by too many clubs

"one of our main rivals"????? LOL. Your rivals will be competing for 17th place and will be lucky with that. Look at the table at the moment, could be where you end up. The table never lies!!!!

He's a good hard working forward, he's just never delivered enough goals.

Wigan 1-2 Bradford Match Report

Latics dropped to a deserved 1-2 defeat at the hands of Bradford, our first loss at home in the league since March. It was an off-day, defence looked shaky from the off and once Nick Powell went off injured, we never really threatened to score. We are back at the DW on Tuesday against Doncaster Rovers, an opportunity to get back on track.

Paul Cook named an unchanged side from our last league game, with Michael Jacobs returning to the starting line-up.
