Top ten finish for Latics

Top ten finish for Latics

Wigan Athletic will finish season 2008/09 somewhere between 10th and 6th in the Premier League according to the last poll here on Vital Wigan.

Obviously confidence amongst the supporters is high and expectations have risen since Steve bruce returned to the club and not only got us finishing the season strongly but also had the team playing good football.

In the last few weeks of the season the Latics drew at home to Arsenal, drew away at Chelsea and almost, well could have got something out of the game against Manchester United on the last day.

With players at the club like Wilson Palacios and Antonio Valencia and speculation surrounding quality players being added to the squad in readiness for the coming campaign the fans appetites have been whetted.

What the poll asked - Where will Wigan Athletic finish in the 08/09 season?

How you voted - 1st - 5th 9%, 6th - 10th 46%, 11th - 15th 31%, 16th - 20th 14%

Current Poll - We have witnessed an exciting tournament so far in the Euro 2008 championship and the two semi-finals are played this week with the final on Sunday.

Out of the four teams to make the semis two, Russia and Turkey, would have been most peoples rank outsiders before the start of the tournament but now they are in the semis anything can happen.

With our expert knowledge of the game lets see if we can predict who will be crowned Champions of Europe, so through our new poll take a vote on - 'Who will win the Euro Championship?`

The poll can be accessed on the right side of this page

I'd be suprised if you made top 10 this season, personally I think the SKY 4 are obviously going to finish higher, and I think you'll be hard pressed to finish above Us, Villa, Spurs or Pompey. City/Blackburn/Geordies/WHAM and probably yourselves, Boro and maybe even Sunderland will fight it out for 8th-14th. I'd be suprised if you finished above 3 of City, Blackburn, Newcastle and WHAM, very suprised.

On a serious note, I would like to see Wigan sign Dawson from Tottenham and Danny Simpson from Manchester United. Would be good to see James McFadden from Brummy as well as Olivier Kapo. Nicky Shorey from Reading. Kevin Doyle from Reading. Also you could get Sylvan Ebanks-Blake from Wolves. Personally, I think that they would be realistic targets, and just a few of them could get you a bit further up the league next season. Oh yeah, and Andy Johnson!
