Steve Bruce Excited by New Wigan Signing

Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce is looking forward to working with new Latics player Daniel De Ridder and reckons he will make an impact at the JJB.

Bruce signed De Ridder last year for Birmingham from Spanish Club Celta Vigo and reckons his versatility will be invaluable as the Latics aim to improve on last seasons 14th place finish.

Bruce said:

'Daniel is an exciting player and I'm convinced he can make an impact at Wigan.

'He has very quick feet and can pull off the unexpected, he's a player with a trick, who can go past defenders and has an eye for a pass.

'He is also versatile enough to play in a number of positions."

Steve Bruce made it clear that the flying Dutchman will not be the only incoming player this summer:

'It's clear we need to bring one or two new faces in this summer and we are currently chasing several targets. Watch this space.'

De Ridder could be the first of many as Steve Bruce looks to stamp his own personality on the Latics

Left wing is a position that needed filling. There's a 'keeper and a striker needed, minimum.
