Latics longest serving current player Mike Pollitt has signed up for another 12 months at the JJB keeping him at Wigan until at least June 2009.
The big shot stopper was Latics first signing following their promotion to the Premier League joining from Rotherham United in May 2005
Polly has been superb as a back-up keeper playing very well when ever he`s been called into action, most notably the Carling Cup semi-final at Highbury against Arsenal in 2006 when he saved a penalty and pulled off four world class saves to help Latics win the tie and progress to the final.
Although not seeing too much first team action last season the former Manchester United trainee is loving his time at Wigan and the chance to work with England keeper Chris Kirkland.
Pollitt told Neil Barker of the Manchester Evening News in a recent interview:
'I love being at Wigan and I also love being involved within the Premier League.
'I'd naturally have liked to have played more games last season, but it wasn't to be yet it's still great to be involved at this level and good to keep working hard.'
'I enjoy working every day with Chris Kirkland, we get on very well together. Carlo Nash has returned from Stoke and we enjoy one another's company and keep each other on our toes.
'Chris did extremely well in the second half of last season. He really seemed to kick on when Steve Bruce came in. He works very hard and he turned in some fantastic performances, notably against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
'I think he enjoys me pushing him along, he is certainly a top-class keeper and it's just great to be within the set-up.
'I think we can look forward to another good season because we certainly look strong and organised as a unit under Steve Bruce.'
Nice one Polly good to have you still on board
