Wigan Transfer Rumours Sunday Round-Up

It`s been a busy week on the rumour front at Wigan Athletic, though last week saw the first signing through the incoming doors at the JJB with Daniel De Ridder joining from Birmingham, hopefully the Dutch U21 international will be the first of many

Lets take a look at the latest rumours doing the rounds:

Andy Johnson is still reportedly high on Steve Bruce`s wish list and both the News of the World and the Sunday People are disclosing that the Latics have had a whopping £10 million bid rejected by Everton for the England striker.

Everton boss David Moyes is still saying that Johnson aint for sale plus in my opinion you can get one hell of a player for £10 million, lets hope that this one is now finished.

Olivier Kapo is very close to becoming a Latics player with a deal rumoured to have been agreed between Latics and Birmingham.

Kapo is expected to be unveiled at the club by Wednesday of next week.

Ivan Klasnic though reportedly Latics pulled out of the deal to sign the Croatia international due to medical fears it now appears that the former Werder Bremen ace is going to make a decision to sign for either Latics or Torino early next week.

There were several news sources that carried the story about Klasnic and his agent both claiming that a move to England and in particular Wigan Athletic was very likely, hmm we will see on this one, would be a good signing though if it did come off.

Amr Zaki this lad will just not go away, we have been linked with the Zamalek and Egypt superstar for months now but following last weeks boardroom high noon show down when there was allegedly a confrontation between Zaki and the clubs president Mamdouh Abbas the deal seemed as dead as the Pharaohs in the pyramids.

Not now though, a club source (Latics) says the deal is very much alive and Zaki should be (here we go again) in Wigan and signed at the club before the end of next week, don`t hold your breath but you never know.

Daniel Arismendi the Venezuela international striker who scores goals for fun was linked with a move to the Latics early last week from Mexican club Atlante, but it seems that this was just pure paper speculation and nothing has come of it.

Salvador Cabanas has decided to stay at Mexican club America at this time, Latics had reportedly made a substantial bid for the South America player of the year but the Paraguay international has shown a bit of loyalty to his present club saying:

"Playing in Europe would please me, but right now I don`t want to leave América, I want to win something here. I want to be champion and hopefully it`ll happen this season."

Djibril Cisse still being linked with a move away from Marseille back to the North of England and we are reportedly monitoring the situation, so to are Blackburn Rovers and the former Liverpool man could just well find himself at Ewood rather than the JJB if Santa Cruz leaves the Rovers for pastures new.

Hendry Thomas arrived in town yesterday and will be unveiled very early next week as Latics second summer signing, the Honduran international and former Olympia player will team up with his Honduran midfield team mate and good chum Wilson Palacios and if he is half as successful as Palacios then we will have some player on our hands.

David Kitson is still very much linked with a £3 million move out of Reading with ourselves and Fulham supposedly the two interested clubs, although I do like Kitson and would love to see him at the Latics I feel that he would sign for Fulham in order to stay in the South.

Mike Pollitt signed a new one year contract last week and Paul Scharner and Wilson Palacios are both expected to follow suit and sign up to long term deals this week

Quite a few players have also been linked with moves out of the JJB this week, Ryan Taylor is reportedly wanted by several Championship clubs, Rachid Bouaouzan wants a move back to Holland on loan, Kevin Kilbane is according to some reports being replaced by Kapo and Paul Jewell would like to take both Titus Bramble and Marlon King to Derby.

I am sure there will be a lot of movement during the next seven days down at the JJB, keep tuned to Vital Wigan and be the first to know whats going on at your club

Love the transfer windows and all the speculation, keeps the interest high when there is no footie being played. We are being linked with some good players at the moment but with some tripe as well, all part of the fun

We could buy a serious striker agreeably for 10m. Still though its a great list of candidates to be linked with -- lets get some signed.

I think Voronin would be a good buy, he is not a regular for Liverpool and he showed class in some of the games. He can do the job and maybe Liverpool would let him go on the cheap.

@ lacticsheart...having watched voronin at liverpool (since my cousin is an avid liverpool nut and am forced to watched their matches) i feel that voronin is not worth the paper he would sign his contract on. he can barely finish and misses plenty of easy chances....even my cuz wants him out. no to voronin IMO
d_manga_fanatic
