Leighton Baines Best Ever Latics Full Back

Bainesy was voted the best ever Wigan Athletic full back by Vital Wigan pollsters.

The left back who came through the ranks to become a regular first team member before moving on to Everton for 5 million beat former Chelsea and current Latics captain Mario Melchiot into second place

Baines was very popular during his time at the club and obviously there are no grudges held for him moving on and he did leave us with some wonderful memories, his goal at Ipswich in our promotion year to the Prem and his free kick against Manchester United at the JJB in his last season with the club.

Nice one Bainesy

Next we are looking for the best ever Latics Centre Half and there are some quality options in this department.

The poll is available for all to vote on and can be found on the right side of this page, if your favourite is missing please let me know and I will add them to the list.

I still think Carl Bradshaw was the best

From best ever full back at a club, to being kept out of the team by a centre back out of position. What a difference a year makes lol.

Can we have him back then please?
worbo
It doesn't surprise me in the slightest that bainesy was voted the best. He is a legend at our place he would of become at god if he stayed no doubt about about that. But i dn't hold him any grudges at all. ALL THE BEST BAINESY We will defo have you back For the center back its goota be DEVOS, JACKO or DEZEEW, its to hard to call.
Jonni_G
no you cannot have him back! bainesy will be seeing more football this season hopefully. joleon will be playing in his preferred central position giving baines the opportunity to show us what we all know he can do at left back. important pre-season for him this summer!
toffeetower
If we got offered what we paid for him, and Joleon wasn't throwing a hissy fit over being played at LB, I'd probably of sold him. But if it's Valente or Baines, he's staying.
