Taylor to Birmingham, Kapo to Wigan

The Daily Mail are reporting that Wigan Athletic and Birmingham City are very close in tying up a deal that will see Ryan Taylor depart the JJB for St. Andrews and Olivier Kapo move in the opposite direction

According to the paper there is just £500,000 difference in the two clubs valuations and this could be sorted through negotiations by the start of next week

It is understood that the Latics have offered Ryan Taylor plus £3 million which in my reckoning is valuing Taylor at £0 seeing as Birmingham bought Kapo for £3 million last season.

Taylor is worth at least £2 million and would be sensational in the Championship plus he his very versatile and can operate both in midfield and defence, if we do deal on this one lets hope that Kapo is worth it.

Personally I wouldnt let Taylor go

If Brum value Kapo at 5 mill (and de Ridder said he thinks he's worth signing), then Taylor would be a reasonably p-ex. But I agree, I'd rather keep Taylor. But maybe SB has other plans.
wotcha
Kapo is a average player at best. He had a very poor season, last season. Bruce is signing him on the logic of how well he played 2 years previously at Levante. His goal scoring abilities have been weak for all the teams he has played for and he has struggled to keep up with the fast pace of the Premier League. He only really showed promise for a season two years ago this would not be a good signing for Wigan. Mind you Bruce signed De Ridder and he was signed on the basis that he would be as good as he was 2 years ago. I'm afraid Bruce's logic is strange to say the least!

Wigan could lose out to French side Marseille in the race for Birmingham forward Olivier Kapo. The former Juventus starter is now poised to join the French side. Wigan had been in the front seat before the French side announced their interest. Birmingham and Wigan have been unable to settle on a fee and Birmingham also have frosty relations with manager Bruce. The prospect of Champions League football appeals to Kapo and he is now set to go back to his home country of France. Birmingham are keen to develop a relationship with the French side.
