The Daily Record are reporting that Wigan Athletic and Blackburn Rovers are vying for Fulhams Steve Davis following reports that Rangers have pulled out of a deal because they cant afford the £4 million asking price.
With Latics losing out on the signing of Honduras international Hendry Thomas due to work permit issues Steve Bruce is in the market for a central midfield player and Davis could fit the bill
Davis spent the second half of last season on loan at Ibrox and was a big hit with the Rangers fans, but Roy Hodgson is determined to get £4 million for his player and this has priced the Scottish club out of a deal for the 23 year old Northern Ireland international.
Rangers boss Walter Smith said:
'Steve Davis is obviously a player we know, but the money Fulham are talking about is too much for us.'
This leaves Latics and Blackburn chasing the former Aston Villa man and if they are both willing to meet the valuation then it will come down to who Davis prefers to play for.
