Wigan bid £3.5 million for Boro`s Lee Cattermole

According to the Daily Mirror Wigan Athletic have made a £3.5 million bid for Middlesbrough and England U 21 midfield player Lee Cattermole

This story was doing the rounds about two months ago and nothing came of it, perhaps with Latics failure to land Hendry Thomas, boss Steve Bruce now has to visit old targets once again

Cattermole recently signed a contract extension at Boro and at 20 he is seen by Boro boss, Gareth Southgate, as one for the future so it could take some persuading to get Boro to agree to this.

As a foot note Lee`s cousin Paul Cattermole was in SClub7, that in itself is enough not to sign him

You couldn't have summed it up better, worbo. That's EXACTLY what we need.... we still have a month, mind. I'm sure SB will get what he needs at the club prior to the new season.

Not sure if i would be bothered to see Catt's go as a Boro fan. He is a yellow card waiting to happen and hasnt improved much in the last season or so. He is banned from all the pubs/clubs in the area for fighting and rumour has it he was banged up for fighting in the street a couple of weeks back.

If thats what he's like then im not sure it would be good to see him here. Nothing against the lad but he might turn out to be like a joey barton

Bramble apparently and alledgedly had a reputation for off the field misdimeanours but he's been ok down here

Lee Cattermole is worse than Titus Bramble, he is passionate about the Boro and football but, although he wont turn out to be another Barton, he needs to stop his trouble outside football. He could cause problems wherever he goes as after a drink, or before for that matter, he doesnt seem like the friendliest person to be around.

Dan's Big Game Report - Blackpool 0 Latics 4

As you read this message in the year 2036, much of Blackpool vs. Wigan '16 has passed into the annals of Latics lore. Scarcely has a single game of kickball received quite as much build-up - from the minute this fixture was announced to the moment match ref Stuart Attwell finally tootled on his tin whistle, talk of Bloomfield Road on 30 April was incessant.

And I expect it's been much the same since, with (admittedly failed) film scripts written and (admittedly shoddy) statues
