Wigan Athletic - Hendry Thomas deal not dead

Word coming out of Honduras is that the deal to sign Hendry Thomas at Wigan Athletic may still happen even though he had a work permit refused.

Steve Bruce thinks highly of Thomas and is still keen for a deal to be done, Vital Wigan believe that the Latics are set to buy the Honduran Olympic team captain and then loan him back to his club, Olimipia (ironic) until he meets the criteria to gain a work permit.

This would be a sensible way around the problem as Thomas was apparently just 5 games short of meeting the work permit criteria, we may still see Hendry in a Latics kit before the end of the year

This could have a happy ending for all concerned, but surely the Latics must have known there was going to be a problem with the lads work permit, or did they not research properly?

Well if he didn't meet the criteria needed with regards as to which international competition he had played in then it was probably presumed that they could appeal on the grounds of his olympic appearances.
