Wigan Athletic - Kapo placed on transfer list

Birmingham City have officially made French attacking midfield player Olivier Kapo available for transfer and put a 3 million price tag on him.

Brum boss Alex McLeish has said that Kapo isn`t in his plans for next season and he expects that he will leave the club shortly.

McLeish told the Birmingham Mail:

'Kapo would like to move on, so I`m not going to stand in his way.

'The other players are in my plans and we will go ahead, go forward with them. Kapo is not in those plans so its better he moves on.'

It appears that Latics want a player plus cash deal with Ryan Taylor being offered as the makeweight in the deal, an idea that McLeish isn`t dismissive of:

'If I can help in any way as go-between, then of course I will do my bit for the club.

'I gather there has been some kind of to-ing and fro-ing, but nothing concrete as yet."

Olympic Marseille have reportedly offered Birmingham the full asking price in cash in an effort to lure Kapo to France but it is understood that the former Juventus player wants to stay in England and would jump at the chance to team up with his former boss at the JJB

The deal was expected to have been concluded last week but in typical Latics fashion its dragging on, nothing is ever straight forward at the JJB these days
