Wigan Athletic AJ bid made

The Mirror are reporting that Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce has made a £9 million official bid for Everton striker Andy Johnson and the Latics are prepared to pay up to £50k per week in wages to the England forward

It was speculated in various media sources a couple of weeks ago that we had bid £10 million for Johnson but this now seems just speculation with Bruce saying that all he had done was make a general inquiry about Johnsons availability

Fulham appear to be Latics main rivals for Johnsons signature and with the former Crystal Palace player said to be wanting a move back down south they might be favourites if they are willing to match the asking price

Would Andy Johnson be the man to spark Latics attack into action?

I dont think he is worth that much and I dont think he'd come to us any way

9 miliion pound is a lot for a penalty taker... I didnt like it when we (Villa) were linked him a while ago...

Agree Tez, I hope he dont come
worbo
Disagree - he's a finisher, and we need that. May be Zaky will do the job for us - but then again, he might get injured in the first game. However I do agree that it's a little unlikely that he'd come.

Johnson will sign a 3 year deal in the next few days or so. He will follow the arrival of Amr Zaki (aswell as Olivier Kapo and Dan De Ridder). Next to come in will be Lee Cattermole and Maynor Figueroa with new deals being handed to Paul Scharner and Wilson Palacios. Bruce is also keen to sign Hendry Thomas on a permanent deal and loan him back to current club Olympia until he gains a work permit. You heard it here 1st!
