Wigan Athletic - Ryan Taylor to Birmingham City

Wigan Athletic - Ryan Taylor to Birmingham City

It is being mooted in certain sections of the press that Wigan Athletic defender Ryan Taylor is about to join Birmingham City for £700,000.

Taylor, who joined the Latics from Tranmere Rovers in July 2005, still has a year left on his current contract but it is believed that manager Steve Bruce is willing to let the England U21 international leave the JJB.

Taylor scored two goals against Birmingham at the JJB last season and he also put in a match winning performance against Newcastle United on Boxing Day at the JJB scoring a fantastic free-kick

The versatile youngster would be a good acquisition for a club of Birminghams stature and he would certainly be an asset in their quest to get back in the Premier League as soon as possible

Agreed. Though if he's going to go, the fee should be enough to get a replacement, and this just isn't.
