Paul Jewell Wigan Athletic 'Best Ever` Manager

Paul Jewell Wigan Athletic 'Best Ever` Manager

The final poll in the Vital Wigan 'best ever` series put Paul Jewell top of the managers with the Latics faithful and we are pleased to announce the Jeweller as Latics best ever manager.

Paul Jewell is a Latics legend; he played for the club and then went on to be the most successful manager in the clubs history taking the Latics from Division 2 obscurity to the promised land of the Premier League.

For the record Paul Jewell received 45% of the votes, Steve Bruce was 2nd with 29% and Ray Mathias 3rd with 5%.

So the best ever Latics are as follows:

Best Ever Keeper - Chris Kirkland

Best Ever Full-Back - Leighton Baines

Best Ever Centre-Half - Arry DeZeeuw

Best Ever Midfield Player - Jimmy Bullard

Best Ever Winger - Andy Liddell

Best Ever Forward - Emile Heskey

Best Ever Manager - Paul Jewell

Now that the best ever series is finished regular poster lythamlatic suggested that we should run a worst ever series, so we are going to do a worst ever Latics player and there have been loads!

For me it is the one and only Julius Aghahowa, what a waste of money he was.

The poll is on the right side of this page; if I have made a glaring error and missed some right donkey off the list please let me know

Well done to Jewells and all the other winners of the best ever Latic. As for Aghahowa what a complete waste of £2 million

I had Kirkland, De Zeeuw, Hinnigan, Bullard, Liddell, Houghton and Jewell. Interesting choice of Langley as best midfielder.

Think you should add Paul Rogers in to the list - not because I thought he was teh worst ever, but he used to come in for more stick than I can remember from fans - then scored the winner in the windscreen wipers cup final.

Latics v Nottingham Forest - Big Game Preview

You can dress it up as you like, but for the Latics this is a game that they just have to win, we start a run of fixtures that would surely have been earmarked as ones to gain maximum points from and get us up the Championship table.

Forest arrive at the DW Stadium just six points ahead of us in the standings, they have injury problems, particularly in defence, they are on a poor run of form having lost their last three games, conceding 10 goals along the way, this is a time when we simpl
