Latics miss out on Mensah

Reports from France suggest that John Mensah is ready to reject the opportunity to move to the Premier League with Wigan Athletic and sign a four year deal with French League Champions Lyon.

This is a blow to Steve Bruce's ambitions, as with Paul Scharner reluctant to commit to an extension of his contract with interest in his services from Fulham and Villa, coupled with uncertaintiy over whether Emerson Boyce is going to accept his contract offer.

Latics need at least four centre backs and Mensah would have fitted the bill.

It looks like its a case of back to the drawing board for Wigan

We at Pompey were linked with Mensah a while back, he maybe a good player but I'm not convinced he would have suited the prem.
