Wigan Athletic Zaki Thirteen

Wigan Athletic Zaki Thirteen

Amr Zaki is number 13 at Wigan Athletic this season after the Egyptian superstar said that it was his favourite number.

Zaki is now an official Latics player following one of the most frustrating and lengthy transfer/loan agreements of all time starting way back in November 2007.

Obviously his former club Zamalek did not want to lose the powerful striker and tried to keep him but the pulling power of the English Premier League and Wigan Athletic proved too strong in the end.

With a down payment of £1.5 million and a goal scored bonus of another £500,000 just for the first year Zamalek haven`t done too badly out of the deal, if Zaki is a success at the Latics the Egyptian club will receive another £4.5 million if not they get him back.

So Zaki is here and expecting to play in Tuesday nights friendly at Oakwell against Barnsley, should be an interesting game to say the least if he does make his debut.

The choice of 13 for the number on the back of your shirt may feel a little uneasy to some but not Zaki who says it is his favourite number and he feels lucky when he wears it.

Zaki also says he is looking forward to being part of the Latics family and that this makes him feel really proud and he cant wait to start scoring for his new family

Well Amr we cant wait for you to start scoring also

I had no idea it's his favourite number. How can it be anyone's favourite number? ;)) Seriously, I wish all the best here and hopefully he'll be great for you.

I thought we had to pay 500,000 for every 10 goals he score. I really hope we have to pay 2 mil at the end of the season :)
