Wigan Athletic - No more spending for Bruce
Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce says that he is delighted with his current squad of players and that he has built a good side to take on the rest of the Premier League.
Latics have brought in 4 new players during the summer Daniel De Ridder, Olivier Kapo, Amr Zaki and Lee Catermole and have also extended the stay of loanee Maynor Figueroa for a further 6 months.
Unfortunately for Bruce though is an injury to inspirational defender Paul Scharner who was carried off during Tuesday nights six nil win at Championship side Barnsley.
Scharner landed heavily and appeared to twist his ankle calling immediately for attention from the bench.
Any lay off will be a worry with the Austrian in superb form at the end of last season Scharner is the main stay of the Latics defence.
Bruce told the Wigan Evening Post:
'Our squad has a good depth to it. I'm delighted with what I've done, and I would have thought that is the end of our shopping.
'But we'll have to see how Scharner is. We haven't got a lot of cover at the back with Erik Edman being out at the moment. It's a concern.'
Of course Vital Wigan will keep you updated on the extent of Scharners injury
