'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Wigan Athletic AmrZaky.com interview

With Wigan Athletic signing Egyptian superstar Amr Zaki Vital Wigan thought that we would try and find out about Africas number one striker and what better than talking to the man that runs Amr Zakis official website Emad Mohamed

So without further ado:

Hi Emad, welcome to Vital Wigan and thanks for doing this interview with us.

Could we start by asking a little about yourself, where do you live, interests, work etc?

Hi worbo, first of all I would like to say that I`m very happy to contact with Wigan fans and keep in touch with them on one of most decent websites which belong to The Latics.

My name is Emad, 22 years old, living in Alexandria the 2nd capital of Egypt and I`m still student in faculty of commerce, Accounting Department.

My interests are football, supporting my team Zamalek SC and making soccer movie clips.

Well that`s very interesting, now as you are aware we have signed Egypt superstar Amr Zaki on a year long loan deal and although Zaki is huge in African football he is relatively unknown here in England so would you be able answer a few questions for us?

It's my pleasure worbo.

First off what are Zaki`s strengthens as a player and which English player that you know is he most like?

Zaky is a vital player on the field, he always looking for win and only win.

The lose is a word that far away of his thinking, he does his best to help his mates catch the win in every game.

As a football player, he is enough solid to keep his ball under pressure, excellent as a header and very good in air, he use his both feet very well and he has very good pace with the ball. In addition, he has great vision as a playmaker and almost makes superb assist to his mates.

Zaky is too near of Wanye Rooney playing style, and when he signed for Zamalek in 2006, I made this compilation for him.
Zaky challenges Rooney, you can watch it on the link :

Zaki played for Zamalek are they a big club in Egypt?

Of Course, Zamalek SC is one of two giants in Egypt, the other team is Ahly, Zamalek rivals.

Zamalek is a very big name in African continent as he now the top record in winning The African Champions League with 5 titles beside 3 titles of African Super Cup.

Mido is a famous Egyptian footballer currently in the English Premier League at Middlesbrough is Zaki of a similar standard of quality?

Zaky is no less than Mido in quality, both are great players though Mido has more experience in English Premier League and in European football in general. But talking about quality, both have same quality and so close of playing style with the recognition that Zaky is bit fitter than Mido.

At end, I can say that both are very talented Egyptian players and incidentally, they are belong to Zamalek club as a players or as supporters.

The weather in England and especially Wigan is often cold and wet with grey skies do you feel this will effect Amr in any way?

Amr knows that very well but he is determined of succeed. He will need little time to adapt though he lived in Moscow while playing for Lokomotiv but it was a short time in hard weather. I think he will adapt quickly this time, I hope so.

What is the football history of Amr Zaki, who has he played for and what honours has he won?

I'll give you short story about his career. Zaky started his career at Al Mansoura Club and played in 1st division while he was 17th. then he moved in a record fee to Enppi Club in the 2003-2004 season.

At Enppi where he wore the t-shirt number 13, he did great seasons, finished the top scorer in the league for 2004-2005 season and helped his club win its first title, the 2005 Egyptian Cup by scoring 3 goals in the competition.

He also managed to lead his club finishing second in Egyptian Premier League 2004-2005 season to get their best position ever. In 2005-2006 season, he scored 9 goals in 13 games with Enppi to finish the first round of the league as the top scorer before moving to the Russian giant Lokomotiv Moscow on another record fee for a player move to Europe directly from Egyptian League.

After short spell up there, he returned to his home land to sign for Zamalek SC to be the highest transfer in Egyptian football that time. Zaky played two seasons for Zamalek and led them to win the 2008 Egyptian Cup before moving to Wigan Athletic on a one year loan.

On the international level, Zaky scored 27 goals in 48 games for National team and he won 2006 and 2008 African Cup Of Nations beside 2003 Youth African Cup of Nations, the three titles was under the coaching of Hassan Shehata.

We spell Zaki with an 'i` because that`s on his passport apparently; you spell Zaky with a 'y`, which is the correct way?

Both are correct though 'Zaky' is more official and in last ACN in Ghana, it was written 'Zaky' on his t-shirt. And you know, his official website is www.amrzaky.com

Had you heard of Wigan Athletic before Amr Zaki was linked with a move to us?

Yes, I heard of Wigan Athletic before Zaky linked with a move and it is a decent club.

What can we look forward to from Amr this season?

I'm confident that Zaky will make a superb season for Latics but wish him all good luck to do his job for the club and for the fans who support him .

Well thank you very much for the interview Emad and we look forward to having a close relationship with Amrzaky.com

I'm glad to contact you worbo and you are welcome anytime. Good luck for Latics this season to reach their target, to finish in top 10.

Fantastic interview there with Emad and I for one am looking forward to working closely with AmrZaky.com for the foreseeable future.

The adaptation would be the key factor, no doubt. Your egyptian friend failed to mention that Zaki never really adapted in Russia and looked utterly rubbish during his stay at Loko. Nonetheless, I wish him luck, just thought I had to mention it.

I thought he never played a game at Lokomotiv?
