Erik Hagen Goes Home to Norway

Former Wigan Athletic loanee and Norwegian international defender Erik Hagen has rejoined Vålerenga IF after three seasons with FC Zenit St. Petersburg reports Uefa.com.

Hagen returns to Vålerenga on a two-and-a-half year contract after the two clubs agreed an undisclosed fee for the centre-back.

The 33-year-old, who played 67 Premier-Liga games for the Russian champions, said:

'I was happy to spend three seasons with a club like Zenit, I would like to thank both the club and the supporters.'

Hagen spent 5 months on loan at the Latics making just one start away in the 2-0 defeat at Fratton Park against Portsmouth.

I agree, pointless acquisition. I'd hate to think Bruce bought Hagen for the sake of it being being transfer deadline day at the time.

Wigan 1-2 Bradford Match Report

Latics dropped to a deserved 1-2 defeat at the hands of Bradford, our first loss at home in the league since March. It was an off-day, defence looked shaky from the off and once Nick Powell went off injured, we never really threatened to score. We are back at the DW on Tuesday against Doncaster Rovers, an opportunity to get back on track.

Paul Cook named an unchanged side from our last league game, with Michael Jacobs returning to the starting line-up.
