Bruce Happy to have Daniel at Wigan

Wigan Athletic boss Steve Bruce has said he is delighted with the acquisition of Daniel De Ridder for the Latics after his former club Birmingham City released the Holland Under 21 international following their relegation from the Premier League.

De Ridder signed for Latics on a free and joins Wilson Palacios, Emile Heskey, Mario Melchiot, Olivier Kapo from the playing staff plus Bruce himself, John Benson, Nigel Spink, Eric Black, Keith Bertschin and some other guy who have all got previous Birmingham connections

Bruce said on the De Ridder signing:

"Getting De Ridder is good business, he can play on the right, left, down the middle. He's a bit different, a dribbler who can beat his man."

"They are something of a dying breed, and together with Valencia, we have two very talented wingers."

A friend asked me last week what is the difference between Wigan Athletic and Birmingham City, I told him that`s an easy question, Wigan Athletic are in the Premier League
