Latics in Holland

Wigan Athletic face FC Utrecht today in what is their last game before the season starts for real next Saturday against West Ham United.

The Latics have travelled to Holland without stars Amr Zaki and Antonio Valencia who, for some reason don`t have the right paper work to enter Holland, one of the most liberal countries in the world, our admin staff are very good, NOT.

So the big question is who will start up front in todays game in the absence of Zaki?

It`s a dead cert that Emile Heskey will fill one of the strike roles and Marlon King has started along side Heskey in two previous games but I wouldn`t be surprised to see little Henri Camara given a shout today.

There is also Joel Thomas, a French forward currently on trial at the Latics, he featured in a 10 minute cameo at Hibs on Tuesday but previously played with the kids at Southport and banged both goals in a 2-2 draw at Haig Avenue.

The midfield will more than likely see Daniel De Ridder in Valencias role on the right, a position that the Dutchman has played consistently this preseason, Palacios and Brown in the centre and Kapo on the left.

It is understood that both Cattermole and Kilbane have slight injuries and may not figure today.

The back line picks itself due to injuries and should see Melchiot and Figueroa as the two full backs with Bramble and Boyce partnering up in the centre.

With Kirkland missing through his re-occurring back injury it is a toss up between Pollitt and Nash, though Bruce favours Pollitt will he want to risk him with Kirkie being out of the West Ham game is open to discussion.

So the predicted line up today is:

Pollitt
Melchiot, Boyce, Bramble, Figueroa.
De Ridder, Palacios, Brown, Kapo
Heskey and Camara
