Analysis of the West Ham Vs Wigan Athletic game

Full Time Stats

Possession
52-48% Wigan (HT 51-49% Hammers)
Shots on target 9-8 Wigan (HT 5-1 Hammers)
Shots off target 13-7 Wigan (HT 5-1 Latics)
Saves 5-3 Kirkland (HT 4-2 Kirkland)
Fouls 13-11 hammers (HT 8-6 Hammers)

Stats show us the story of the 2nd half and were the possession was, Wigan with 9 shots on target and 13 off for the game on another day would of scored more than 2 goals, some golden chances missed in the 2nd half but enough signs were shown that being bottom of the ladder will be short lived for this very attacking and talented Latics side

Areas that need to be improved are

- defensive breaks, Brown was brilliant for us last season and he was missed, we looked rushed in defence whenever West Ham got the ball on a breakaway which was far to often

- Figgy needs to sit back and look at other options insetad of shooting at goal himself, he is a LB for a reason and this is the EPL he is playing in, goals from 40yrds out arn't going to occur in this league very often

- midfield whilst was attacking needs to settle and setup play instead of trying to score off every play, Valencia looked more composed today than last season and looked to set things up, Kapo looked very very good on the left as well

Positives

- Zaki goal without a doubt
- Kirklands saves
- Boyce at the back
- Kapo fitted in very well
- Valencia and Palacious started the season how they finished

I agree with your positves sprayzen and comments on figgy shooting from all over the place...also I thought that Melchiot looked a bit cavalier at times at the back today
