Latics Vs West Ham - What The Bosses Said

Wigan Athletic lost their opening day fixture at West Ham, but was it all doom and gloom, lets see what Latics boss Steve Bruce and Hammers boss Alan Curbishley had to say about the game:

Latics boss Steve Bruce:

"We prided ourselves last season on being difficult to beat and just haven`t started for 15 mins"

"After that I couldn`t ask for anything more, We`ve been outstanding the second half and slaughtered them, but two goals have clouded the whole day for me"

"You cant come to a Premier League ground and concede two goals in the first 10 minutes and expect to get anything from the game"

On goal scorer Amr Zaki Bruce said:

'He was just like the player I saw when I went over to Egypt, hustling and bustling around. "

'I wondered whether he could reproduce that in the Premier League and it looks like he can. "

'If he keeps his feet on the ground and adds a little bit of composure to his game then he'll do really well for us."

On Wilson Palacios Bruce said:

"Palacios was superb, the kid has got everything you want in a footballer and if he keeps playing like this he'll be a fantastic one"

West Ham boss Alan Curbishley:

"I felt it was a good start for us and I was pleased to see Dean Ashton get the goals"
