Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari gave praise to the Latics following his sides 1-0 victory at the JJB yesterday after Deco`s 3rd minute free kick was enough to win the game
Last weekend Chelsea played flowing football to destroy Portsmouth 4-0 but struggled to contain Wigan Athletic this weekend, the big Brazilian declaring that Latics are a much better side than Pompey, he said:
"I understand that we didn't play like last week but I also understand the reasons why'
'Wigan played better than Portsmouth, they pressured us and they were playing at home - the people can help more than they can when we are at Stamford Bridge.'
'This was my first test outside Stamford Bridge and now I know what to expect."
'I saw today out in the field how difficult it is and over the last two or three years, when a team goes and wins one-nil, it's the same as 10-nil. That's because one-nil in England is 50 per cent of the scorelines."
Scolari believes that the Premier League is tough and that there are no easy games, he said:
'In England you can never say first versus the last is easy."
'This is my first time in the north of England. Now I know the north and where to come when I play Manchester United, Manchester City, Bolton and the rest."
Big Phil feels relieved that his side managed to beat the Latics and acknowledges that we have some good strong players at the club, he said:
'This result is fantastic for Chelsea because we have more confidence and we have six points, even though I know we didn't play well. Wigan have powerful players.'
Words are no consolation for points and points are what we need lets hope that we can start collecting points on Saturday at Hull
