Wigan Athletic Injury Udate

Wigan Athletic manager Steve Bruce gave an update on Chris Kirkland to the waiting media in the post match press conference following the keepers late withdrawal from the Chelsea game.

Bruce said:

'Kirky unfortunately has hurt his back. It's a sciatica problem."

'During the warm-up, he couldn't feel much movement in his back and he was really struggling with it."


Also Jason Koumas made an appearance in the starting eleven at the expense of new signing Olivier Kapo, Bruce explained:

'Kapo went down sick in the morning. He would have started otherwise."

'We brought in Jason Koumas to replace him, but he suffered a recurrence of the knee injury which forced him to miss most of the pre-season."


So Kirkies back still isn`t right, looks like this is going to plague him all his career
