Vital Wigan regular Rabeem gives his verdict on the Latics performance in last nights Carling Cup 2nd round match
We showed great character and commitment into this match, with the staggering 4-0 score line erupting a message to all Carling Cup competitors that we have what it takes and are determined to go all the way.
Our performance was simply outstanding, Nash made a fool of himself at one stage but we were clearly the dominant side from start to finish and albeit against a much more feeble side, it all bodes well for the future and breeds confidence into our visit to the KC Stadium on Saturday.
In particular Camara was tremendous yesterday, he worked his socks off and arguably worked too hard but it shows a good sign regarding his enthusiasm which was reminiscent to the first one and a half seasons when we had him. Also, it goes without saying how pivotal our Egyptian Zaki was, he was an absolute gem who made a massive impact and brought everyone into play. A superb one two with Killer for his goal which he dispatched with ease and his long ball to Camara was also monumental.
Having said that, it just goes to show that the long transfer saga at Zamalek was certainly worth the wait. Zaki is definitely making a name for himself and proving a big hit with us fans.
In addition, I thought De Ridder was a belter down the flank causing endless troubles for the County defence, a little dire at times but on the whole was shrewd.
Basically, I have to agree with the player ratings that baskerville produced in his article.
Furthermore, it was nice to see Bouaouzan and Kupisz get some minutes under their belt and I thought they were decent to be honest. First time I have seen either play and it was good to see Kupisz hit the back of the net which no doubt delighted him.
All in all, a fantastic display from the lads and we are maintaining our belief that we can compete with any English team so bring on the next round!
