Valencia Dropped from Ecuador Squad

Wigan Athletic midfield man Antonio Valencia has upset his national coach by missing last Wednesdays friendly international against Colombia in New York.

Valencia pulled out of the game due to a knee injury but then played against Chelsea in Sundays Premier League clash at the JJB and this has left Ecuador coach Sixto Vixuete angry.

Vixuete told reporters:

'It seems he did not join us because he didn't want to'

'Our friendly was played on a date Fifa set aside for these type of games and regulations must be followed."

'Now, the Ecuadorian Football Federation are following up this case with the club which owns the player's rights."

'Ecuador have left the doors of the national team open for when the real reason for his absence is clarified.'

Interesting set of circumstances, we`ll see how long they leave him out if at all.

Stupid date for international friendlies any way

Can't see Antonio wanting to miss it but it's only a friendly so need for a big fuss.

It is a daft time for a friendly, but you do have to say that Palacios played in a fiendly but he played against Chelsea and Notts County
