Whelan to Stay With Latics, For Now

Wigan Athletic chairman Dave Whelan is understood to have no desire to sell the Latics, at the moment anyway.

Whelan sent a delegation to South Korea last week to try and secure the signature of two players, which didn`t materialise, negotiate with potential future sponsors, no word on that one yet, and allegedly find a buyer for the club, total rubbish.

Whelan has been a bit scathing of the Wigan public and their lack of attendance at the JJB and this alerted one or two pundits to surmise that he his ready to sell the club and enjoy his retirement

From Vital sources close to the Latics we believe that Whelan, at the moment, does not wish to sell the Latics, but after this season he may well reconsider his position and seeing that his other family members, including his grandsons, don`t have the inclination to run a football club, the Whelan dynasty`s connection to Wigan Athletic may be coming to an end.

Whelan criticised the gate for the Chelsea game but it was a bank holiday and the game was on TV, I was there at the JJB but Mr Whelan wasn`t.

Maybe he is getting bored with it all

If only we didnt need his money

Could be time for a fresh face, Blackburn's gradual move to self suficiency will be what Whelan's aiming for.
eh?
if we do get a new owner soon I hope it's someone in the same vein as Whelan. An ex-footballer, a shrewd businessman, a local and rediculously outspoken. That's probably too much to hope for so I'll settle for anyone with enough billions to bankroll us into the Champions League final :o)
