Fans Feel Attack and Defence Needs Strengthening

Fans Feel Attack and Defence Needs Strengthening

Today is the deadline day for transfers and Wigan Athletic have been linked with lots of players these past two weeks without any of them joining the club.

Vital Wigan ran a poll to see where the fans feel that we need to strengthen before the window slams shut at midnight tonight and a new forward was top of the poll.

With Zaki and Heskey our main strike force and having only Henri Camara as back up we do look a little short in that department if suspensions or injuries kick in.

Defence is another area where we could get caught short and again this was identified in the poll, with only a few hours remaining will there be any last minute surprises? As they say, only time will tell.

For the record here are the poll results:

1 Forward - 44%
2 Defence - 40%
3 Midfield - 11%

The new poll is now available and it has been suggested by Vital regular Jonni_G, he wants to know if we qualify for Europe do we think that Antonio Valencia will stay at the club next summer.

The poll is available on the right side of this page

One injury already, less than 12 hours to go. I feel another scraping, scrapping season coming on.

Don't be like that? They told me that last season, and the season before. I'll be very happy to be wrong this time. But if I'm not, I'll have some sort of consolation.

Latics v Wolves - Big Game Preview

There is a little bit of pressure starting to mount down at the Latics, no win in seven games and sitting bottom of the pile, the sooner we can get a three points haul in the bag the better.

Gary Caldwell felt that his team were unlucky not to win the game at Preston on Friday never mind lose it, a wickedly deflected effort early on followed by some resolute defending kept the Latics at bay, but a failure to take two excellent chances was the downfall as we lost by the odd goal for the 7t
