Heskey`s Future Still in Balance?

Heskey`s Future Still in Balance?

Wigan Athletic and England forward Emile Heskey could still be set to leave the Latics in January with both Aston Villa and Spurs said to be interested in the 31 year old.

The Wigan Evening Post is reporting that Heskeys contract expires next summer and with there being no mention of a renew the Latics could be set to cash in when the next transfer window opens in January rather the lose him for nothing in June.

With negotiations having taken place with Paul Scharner, Chris Kirkland and Emerson Boyce it is strange that there was no mention of Bruce talking to Heskey about a new deal

I am not privy to what contracts the players are on at the JJB but I find it odd that Heskeys is set to run out in 9 months time, Dave Whelan is a shrewd business man and I am sure he would have sold Heskey this summer when there were firm offers on the table for him rather than gamble and end up losing him for nothing.

Lets hope, like most things, the Wigan Evening Post is wrong on this and Heskey will still be a Latics player next season.

Interesting story based on a strong rumour I heard in the Midlands. This rumour came from a USUALLY reliable source. Martin O'Neill was looking to pair up Heskey and Owen as well as having Carew and Agbonlahor. The 'Heskey' deal fell through because Wigan missed out on Frazier Campbell. If they had got him they would have been prepared to let Heskey go to Villa for Harewood and approx £2.5m. Evidently Villa are looking to resurect both deals in January. Don't know how true, but plausible.

Heskey and Owen now there's a combination for the future! (I don't think so)

Not bad back up for Carew and Agbonlahor though. Again, not sure of the level of truth in this, but MON is definitely on the look out for two strikers.

He's definitely in the last year of his contract, along with Sibierski, but I can see us sorting this out in due course. Whelan isn't going to want to lose a player like Heskey on a Bosman.

He will sign a new contract6 in a couple of months i dn't think theres a problem there. Why would he want to leave when he's doing so well here

when Heskey is fit he's a good player but it's the injuries that blight his reputation! Besides, never forgiven him for that last minute goal last season :-(

Wouldn't surprise me if MON had lined up an Owen/Heskey strike force, I was pushing on Vital Spurs for just that right through the transfer window, I was the only one who wanted it mind. I just think England look a different class again when the two of them are together, and think it would be the same if they were paired for a club as well. Spurs also were linked with both or either of them, wish it had happened, but it's also a risk due to their injury histories.

The action(?) from yesterday's game at the DW Stadium between Wigan Athletic and Nottingham Forest which ended goalless:

Report - Latics 0 Forest 0 - What A Shocker

Thirteen games to save our Championship status, first up a home game against Nottingham Forest who are on a shocking run of form, conceded 10 goals in their last three matches, three of their first choice defenders missing through injury, they had lost 11 of their 16 away games this season with a -16 goal difference on the road and sat just six points above us in the table, surely a game that we would set out to win.

Checking the team selection I felt slightly optimistic but slightly conf
