'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Heskey - England Will Perform

Wigan Athletic and England centre forward Emile Heskey has been talking about getting his international career back on track ahead of todays World Cup Qualifier against Andorra in Barcelona.

Talking about getting back in the squad following a two year absence Heskey said:

'I never gave up, and that was shown when I got back into the squad for the two qualifiers with Israel and Russia'

'You can never give up. You just have to hang in there and keep performing and hope that the manager comes knocking. It is nice to see the manager still has faith in me and wants to put me in the squad.'

Although England didn`t make the Euro finals this summer Heskey says that the squad are wanting to put matters right and he feels that the big tournaments need England as much for the fans as anything else.

He says:

'We are very determined'

'Obviously with us not going to the Euros, I think the tournament missed England a little bit, not just the team but more so the fans - they're brilliant when they travel.

'We're very professional and we go about every game the same, we want to win every game we play in.

'We just want to go out there and have a good performance and get the results we deserve.'

With Andorra tonight and Croatia on Wednesday England have a massive opportunity to get the road to South Africa firmly on track.
