Richard Kingson Signs for Wigan Athletic

Wigan Athletic have signed Ghana international goalkeeper Richard Kingson on a two year deal following his release from Birmingham City in the summer.

Latics boss Steve Bruce needed to bring in a keeper after allowing Carlo Nash to leave for Everton on deadline day and he says that he had Kingson in his mind when he let Nash go, Bruce told reporters:

'He was always in the back of my mind when we let Carlo Nash go to Everton'

'Carlo was a bit frustrated with the number of games he got, and with the outstanding contribution of Chris Kirkland and Mike Pollitt behind him, Carlo decided to try his luck elsewhere.

'So we're delighted to have brought in Richard on a two-year deal and he'll be a good acquisition for us.'
