Zaki Out of Ipswich Trip

Wigan Athletic striker Amr Zaki is out of the midweek Carling Cup clash with Ipswich Town and is rated as doubtful for next Sundays home tie with Manchester City having picked up a calf injury in the clash with Spurs today

Zaki was challenged heavily by Spurs left back Assou-Ekotto early in the game and felt his calf stiffen up, midway through the second half his calf was giving him real pain and he had to be replaced on 84 minutes.

The injury will be a major blow to both the Latics and Zaki himself following his tremendous start to the season, lets hope the medical team can work their magic and have him ready to face Manchester City next Sunday

Do hope he recovers in time for the Man City game. At least we have backup but will miss Zaki next weekend if he doesn't play. Hopefully he will be in contention to play on Sunday. If he doesn't play, this might be Henri Camara's chance to shine! I'd take a draw against Man City - we do have a good record against Man City and as long as our defence are up to the challenge, I can't see why we can't get a draw.

Come on Alex, give him the magical rub ;)

I do hope so, worbo. Lets hope the injury is only mild. Looks quite a tough cookie so can see Zaki returning soon (hopefully). At least we have cover as I said on another post but will miss Zaki if he doesn't play.

Hopefully, it's nothing serious.
