Choose Your Man of the Match

Wigan Athletic got their first home league win of the season today seeing off Manchester City 2-1 in an enthralling Sunday afternoon encounter with a goal apiece from Antonio Valencia and Amr Zaki.

Latics had some good performers all other the pitch, Bramble and Boyce were excellent at the heart of the defence and Kirkland pulled off a tremendous save and his hadling was good all afternoon.

Wilson Palacios covered every blade of grass whilst Lee Cattermole dominated the midfield before going off injured and Olivier Kapo brought a touch of class to the Latics left.

Emile Heskey was very good in the forward line bit for me Antonio Valencia and Amr Zaki were absolutely superb, Valencia scored a fabulous goal and gave one of his best performances to date in a Latics shirt, Zaki was magnificent and never stopped running all afternoon despite being kicked all over the park.

A difficult choice but please make it by voting in the poll on the right side of this page.

Hard to split Zaki and Valencia, both had great games today

I'm going for Zaki, but was a good effort all round

Clearly it was Steve Bennett - he wanted to be the star in front of his home fans.
