Heskey secures England call up

Emile Heskey may have finished on the losing side yesterday, under the watchful eye of England manager Fabio Capello but the Italian has kept faith with the Wigan forward, after his excellent display in Croatia last month.

Heskey, who has scored 5 goals in 48 internationals for England, made his debut for his country in 1999 in a one all draw away to Hungary.

His last goal for England, was against South Africa in 2003 and he has won five caps whilst as a player at Wigan Athletic.

There is no place in the squad however for WIgan old boy Jimmy Bullard.

Preseason - Fleetwood 3 Latics 4

Latics preseason came to an end with an entertaining seven goal feast at Highbury on Friday evening.

Goals from Max Power, Luke Burke, Yanic Wildschut and a Michael Jacobs free kick were enough to see off managerless Fleetwood 4-3, the Cod Army may not be managerless for too long though, former Wigan Athletic boss Uwe Rosler watching from the stand and waiting in the wings as he is set to be named the new man in charge of the League One club.
